thethirdpole.net was launched four years ago as a project of chinadialogue, in partnership with Earth Journalism Network. Through the website, the Third Pole provides impartial, accurate and balanced information and analysis, and to foster constructive debate on these vital resources from across the Himalayas.
The Third Pole aims to reflect the impacts at every level, from the poorest communities to the highest reaches of government, and to promote knowledge sharing and cooperation within the region and internationally.

chinadialogue is an independent, bilingual, Chinese English website that promotes communication on the environment and climate change. chinadialogue was founded in 2006 and launched Diálogo Chino to address the environmental impacts of the growing relationship between China and Latin America in 2014.

Natalia Gomez and Karla Díaz
Biography
Natalia Gomez is coordinator of the Environmental Democracy Programme at Colombian NGO Asociación Ambiente y Sociedad. A lawyer specialising in constitutional law, Natalia has experience working in areas such as access to information, citizen participation and environmental conflict.

Karla Díaz is a researcher at Asociación Ambiente y Sociedad. Karla is trained in political science and sociology and studied human rights and socioenvironmental conflicts. She has experience working with rural and indigenous communities in relation to the defense of their territories, citizen participation, non-violent political action and territorial development.

Cristina Veiga and Nadia Pontes
Biography
Cristina Veiga is Editor of Diálogo Chino and is based in São Paulo, Brazil. As a freelance journalist, she has worked as an international correspondent for major Brazilian and Argentine media outlets. She also has extensive experience in the energy and NGO sectors.

Nadia Pontes is a journalist currently working freelance for national and international press. She has spent the last 5 years at Deutsche Welle in Germany where she has worked as a reporter and editor and latterly as a presenter of Futurando, a program about environment, science and innovation. In Brazil, she has spent time at SBT, Band Vale radio and Rede Vanguardia.

Gabriela Moya and Paula Rolffs
Biography
Gabriela Moya is a senior policy advisor working in E3G's International Climate Finance programme. She has extensive experience gained in the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) and banking sector. Gabriela has an MSc in Climate Change and Policy from the University of Sussex. She has a BA in International Relations from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).

Paula Rolffs is a researcher working in E3G’s International Climate Finance programme. Her first degree (MSc equivalent) was in Regional Science of Latin America at the University of Cologne, and included two semesters of studies and internships in Latin American countries. She also holds an MSc (distinction) in Energy Policy for Sustainability from the University of Sussex.

E3G's International Climate Finance programme focuses on driving the design of national and international finance strategies required for the transition to low carbon and resilient economies that generate transformational change.

Sangjung Ha Thomas Hale and Pete Ogden
Biography
Sangjung Ha works with the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development. She previously worked at the Global Green Growth Institute managing the Green Growth Best Practice initiative which assessed effectiveness of green growth policies from over 35 countries.

Thomas Hale is associate professor in the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. Dr Hale’s research explores how we can effectively and fairly govern transnational problems. His most recent book is Between Interests and Law: The Politics of Transnational Commercial Disputes (Cambridge, 2015).

Peter Ogden is senior fellow at the Center for American Progress in Washington, DC. He previously served in the Obama administration as director for international climate policy at the White House National Security Council and as chief of staff to the US Special Envoy for Climate Change at the State Department.
